With the move to NYC I found some time to revisit one of my favorite outings of 2014, the Red Hook Crit. The weather was simply horrendous but the race went on and left us with some incredible images.
Heading down the West Side Highway there was an unmistakable green glow emanating from the usually frosted-white IAC building. Once inside the green theme clearly had replaced previous years' blue argyle of Slipstream Sports. Clearly this was a Cannondale party. Scattered around the room were bikes, kit, and equipment the team would use this season, but hidden away still was the new kit design.
This winter has seen many a cyclist questioning their desire to ride. It confined us, relegated to the indoors as snow and ice sneered at our skinny tires. Even when professional racing resumed, seemingly worlds away in Australia, we chased our tv screens haplessly from stationary trainers. When the clocks "sprang forward," the promise of extended daylight began our change in fortune.
